We are looking for a Planning Forester.

Under the direct supervision of the Woodlands Superintendent, the Planning Forester is responsible for the long term harvest planning and permit acquisition for our operations in Prince Albert and Big River, Saskatchewan.
This position is located in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
If the candidate does not reside in Prince Albert, living within a 1-hour commuting distance from Prince Albert would be necessary.

Relocation assistance may be offered.
Prince Albert, Saskatchewan is the 3rd largest city in Saskatchewan situated near the center of the province on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River. The city is known as the "Gateway to the North" because it is the last major centre along the route to the resources of northern Saskatchewan. The surrounding area has world-class deer hunting, fishing, quadding and snowmobile trails. Prince Albert National Park is located 51 km (32 mi) north of the city and contains a huge wealth of lakes, forest, and wildlife.


QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate must have proven skills related to all facets of forestry planning, permit acquisition and forest policy. Experience in GIS is a definite asset.

Minimum of 4 years related experience

Self starter with excellent organization

Registered Professional Forester / Registered Professional Forestry Technician (RPF) designation is required. If the candidate is nor already registered in Saskatchewan registration would be necessary to qualify for the position.

Excellent communication and team skills

Proficient in current technology such as GIS (Geographical Information Systems)

Experience working with drones would be an asset

Knowledgeable in current forest legislation

Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office


DUTIES INCLUDE


Design and cutblocks and roads for harvesting

Managing cutback layout crews

Working with government

Trapper notifications
