Forestry Technician Advanced

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Bureau of Forestry is recruiting to fill several Forestry Technician vacancies in the following locations: Rhinelander Ranger Station, Boulder Junction RS/Trout Lake, Antigo Service Center, Tomah Ranger Station, Jim Falls Ranger Station/Jim Falls, Gresham Ranger Station, Ladysmith Service Center, Grantsburg Ranger Station This recruitment will also be used for any other statewide Forestry technician vacancies as needed.

Forestry Technicians are responsible for fire management activities (i.e., fire suppression, pre-suppression, and prevention); serving as a certified forest fire equipment operator; operating specialized/complex forest fire control equipment including tractors, plows and bulldozers and other engines; issuing permits; implementing forest fire prevention projects; and assisting in performing fire inspections.

Forestry Technicians also assist with all aspects of the forest management program, which may include forest reconnaissance, management plans, timber sale establishment and administration, timber stand improvement, reforestation and afforestation, forest road development and maintenance, and/or property management.
